TOO-IMAGINATIVE BOY.
TALE OF £35.000 MOTOR-CAR- ~
An extraordinary letter- by a 15-year-old Walthamstow boy was read at Southend Children's Court recently when jtho boy appeared on two charges of theft. It was stated tho week before that the hoy had stolen a motor-cycle, robbed a woman who befriended him, and then written an amazing letter to it boy friend, describing how he had noted " four cribs to crack."
Tho boy described a 5,000 horse-powor car, called a " windjammer," with which, he told his father, he was going to brqpk Sir Henry Segrave's speed record. " This car," tho letter ran, " has 2b icecooled cylinders, with a periscope enabling the driver to lio inside and watch a point several miles away. It has two tall fi» s which -stabilise it and wind brakes operated by a lover in the cockpit. It is a marvellous car and cost tho fabulous "sum of £35.000 to build." The fathor said his son was anxious to got into the Navy. Tho Chairman, Sir John Francis: "Tho Navy will have nothing to do with him it they know ho writes stuff liko that."- The boy was remanded. •
