FATAL INJURY BY CAT

Trivial injury inflicfnd by n oat led to the cloutli of Henry Edward Karl, aged 56, licenseo of the King's Head Inn, Bedworth, Warwickshire. It was stated at the inquest at Coventry that Mr. liarl, while, sitting in tile smoke-room in his house, was scratched on the hand by the cat, Tlio injury appeared to he so small at the time that no notice was taken of it, but later Mr. Earl's hand became Very inflamed. A doctor was consulted, and Mr. Earl was sent to a nursing home. Ho died from capillary bronchitis set up by septicaemia. In returning a verdict of " Accidental death," the coroner, Mr. C. W. Iliffe, remarked that it was important that iodino or some antiseptic should bo used, even in cases of apparently slight injury.
