Largo supplies of local apples from cool storage are being offered at the Auckland City Markets, the prices realised yesterday being low. Limited stocks of bananas sold at tho high rate of 22s to 31s a case. Passions and hothouse grapes eased in values. Pears were dull of sale. Island oranges met with a fair response, but small Poorman oranges were not sought. Lemons sold readily, while there was a fair inquiry for hothouse tomatoes. There was again no dearth of cabbage, lettuce, celery and onions in the field produce section. Adequate stocks of other vegetables were marketed. An average demand existed for all lines. Moderate supplies of poultry, which met with a keen demand, were available; The prices remained about the same as last .week's quotations. Turkey hens brought 7s to 10s each and gobblers 10s to 18s 6d each. The prices for the various grades of hen and duck eggs have decreased. Special grade hen eggs are selling at 2s lid a dozen and duck eggs at 2s 9d a dozen. Increased supplies met with a fair demand. Farmers' butter again sold.at is to is 3d a pound. FIRST OF SEASON ARRIVE.; The first opossum skins of tho season, apart from thoso from opossums trapped by farmers and orchardists, who may trap all the year round, have reached Auckland. Tho season opened for independent trappers on June 16, and 35 skins havo been received for stamping by tho Government depot in Auckland. No skins have been forwarded yet to the Auckland Acclimatisation Society. No idea of the range of prices likely to be obtained can be gained until the first sale is held in Dunedin early next month. . BANK DIRECTORATE. NATIONAL OF AUSTRALASIA. Proposals to increaso the number of directors from six to seven were confirmed at an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders of the National Bank of Australasia, Limited, in Melbourne oil Wednesday. General Sir Harry Chauvel was elected as the additional director. There were substantial majorities in favour of (lie resolutions, and the proxies were overwhelmingly in favour of the proposals. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held a clearing sale of dairy stock on account of Mrs. Arthur Edmonds nt Horotiu on Thursday when thero was a good attendance and a very successful sale resulted. The herd wdb in splendid condition and the majority were showing close to calving. Tho pedigVee cows offered were not in great demand, although of good quality. The herd of 21 sound cows averaged £l2 10s. Tlie highest price obtained was £l9 10s for second calvers. Faulty cows made up to £9 10s. Pedigreo Jersey cows to 20 guineas.
