AUCKLAND AERO CLUB.
Sir,—lt comes as a surprise to learn through your columns that the Auckland Aero Club has decided to establish itself permanently at the present Mangere aerodrome site, in spite of the fact that this sito is apparently unsuited as an air port to serve the of Auckland City. The Aero Club has made its decision in face of the report recently brought down before the City Council. Tho reasons published supporting the decision of tho Aero Club appear to be that the site is suitable for its own purposes, particularly because tho club apparently intends to use this cite for club activities other than, flying. Tho large measure of public support afforded to air clubs has been given on the assumption that these clubs would use their resources in the public interest to promote the establishment of flying and air services. The decision of the Aero Club to devote its funds to its own ends without regard to tho present and future public requirements in the bold of flying is an ac k narrow-minded and one which may cause a serious setback to the establishment of flying in thq Auckland .district.
