DEATH IN GAOL.
The death occurred at the Mount Edon gaol yesterday of Charles Wilkie, aged 50, who was arrested at 7.30 yesterday morning in Vincent Street, on a charge of helpless drunkonueis. He was attended to by Dr. C. 11. Towsloy aftor his arrest and later removed to the gaol. His death occurred about noon. Owing to his condition in tho morning Wilkie was unablo to appear in the Police Court yesterday, when the charge against him. was read. On the application of SubInspector Shanahan, ho was remanded for a week for medical treatment. An inquest will bo opened before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., eoronor, to-day.
