POLICE COURT NEWS.
PROBATION FOR GIRL. " I'gave her a chance, but it would not work," said Major Annie Gordon, of the Salvation Army, in the Police Court yesterday, when Gwennyth McAuley, aged 18, pleaded guilty to being idlo and disorderly and having insufficient lawful means of support. Accused was admitted to probation for two years. A Dalmatian labourer, Peter Druzianich, aged 21, was fined £5 for overstaying his permit to remain in Now Zealand. Mr. J. Mcintosh, collector of customs, said accused was given a six months' permit when he came to New Zealand in August, 1928. Default of payment of tho £5 fine was fixed at one month's imprisonment, and accused was ordered to be deported.
