ARTILLERY ASSOCIATION.

NEW ORGANISATION FORMED.

MEN WHO SERVED IN WAR.

Following a number of gatherings which were held recently by different artillery batteries, members of which served in the Great War, a provisional organisation, to. be known as the Artillery Association (Great War) is to be formed in Auckland and will hold its first meeting next Saturday evening. At this reunion the objects of the association will be explained and the rules of the new organisation will be adopted.

'The idea behind the new association originated when a number of artillery batteries, among which were the Ist, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 6th, 13th, 15th and 16th, held successful reunions of members who served in the war, and it was decided to attempt to keep the spirit of these reunions in existence, and to preserve the feeling of comradeship among former artillerymen. The objects of the new association are to maintain comradeship among all who served in artillery units from 1914 to 1918, to hold reunions, and to honour artillerymen who lost their lives in the war. Additional objects which will gain sympathy from former servicemen are to assist in relieving distress arising from sickness, accident or unemployment, and to obtain employment for those who are out of work.
