POSITION AT TAURANGA.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAURANGA, Friday.
At the quarterly meeting of the Tauranga Fire Board, the Under-Secretary of the Department of Internal Affairs advised that it was considered desirable that fire boards should take steps to prepare by-laws dealing with the provision of fire escapes in buildings other than public buildings. A suggested form of by-law was forwarded.
The matter was referred to a committee to report to the next meeting. The chairman stated that the ratio of expenditure to tho total insurance premiums received in tho borough of Tauranga was the lowest for any town of its size in the Auckland province.
