ROMNEY MARSH BREEDERS.
CONTROL OF FLOCKS WANTED ALLOCATION OF SHIELDS. [BY TELEGRAM.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PALMERSTON NORTH, Thursday. The Romney Marsh Sheep Breeders' Society elected the following officers:— President, Mr. Q. Donald (Featherston); treasurer, Mr. W. F. Jacob (Kiwitea). The following allocations for championship shields were approved:—North Island, spring shields to the Royal Show and autumn shields to the Dannevirke Association; South Island, shields to the Canterbury Association, the Wheeler Memorial Shield to the Royal Show. The Government is to bo urged to bring down legislation for the compulsory registration of all flocks of purebred sheep of any one particular breed in the official flock book of an association which has been duly incorporated to control the breed in question. It was considered that the time had arrived for seeking Parliamentary power to place this matter of unified control on a proper footing by having each breed controlled by a separato association, and not having, as at present, two controlling bodies for several of the largest breeds.
