All the entrants were present. Play began with tho first and second qualifying rounds of the championship. There was light rain in- the and later heavy rain sot in. and continued all day, making conditions far from pleasant. Tho results were:—i-R. O Gardner, 79, 86— IGS; Dr. Buckley, 84, 82—166; A. The trophy for the best score in the two qualifying rounds was won by R. O. Gardner, of Titirangi. The medal round in the morning resulted in a tie between T. Guerm (Kaikoho), W. Maitland (Whangarei) and A. Gillespie (Whangaroi). Tho flag match in the afternoon was won by H. Gillespie. He carried tho flag to the fairway approaching the 20tli holo._ A. Christensen. of Kaikoho, was second with a handicap of 14. Tho first round of the championship will be played to-morrow, together with a bogey handicap and a medal match.
