This remit, it was explained, was a direct result of the request of the Dannevirke Retailers' Association and the Chamber of Commerce to meet the Farmers' Union executive and Southern Hawke's Bay. As the result of an earnest and" instructive discussion the business people had set- up a special sub-com-mittee to meet the Farmers Union for the purpose of formulating a policy of mutual interest to farmers and business men, with an endeavour to make the movement Dominion-wide. The remit was moved by Mr. J- Livingstone, seconded by Mr. R. S. Chadwick, and carried unanimously.
