NEW FLYING-BOAT.

A TRIP TO KAWAU. Tho flying-boat "Cutty Sark," which has been added to the fleet at the Hobsonville air bu.se, made its first long (light yesterday. It left the base and cruised over the North Shore before proceeding to Kavvau, where it alighted on tho water alongside 11.M.5. Dunedin, which was anchored off tho island. Flying conditions were ideal and tho machine mado a perfect landing. Taxi-ing slowly, tho flyingboat drew alongside the warship, to which it was moored in a similar manner to tho cruiser's cutters. When tho flying-boat left on the return trip she carried a naval officer, who, on arrival at Hobsonville, transferred to the Fairey aeroplane in order to carry out aerial manoeuvres. Observations for a bombardment were mado, this oporation concluding the gunnery exercises which have been carriod out by the Now Zealand Division of tho Navy in the gulf during tho past week.
