GIFT FOR MAORI CHURCH.

GENEROUS NATIVE WOMAN.

SITE AND £3OOO GIVEN,

[BT TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Friday.

A Maori candidate who was recently confirmed by the Bishop of Aotearoa, Mrs. Eihi Toto Nicholls, of Paeroa, has given to the Waikato diocese a site for a Maori church at Paeroa and in addition has given £3OO toward the cost of building a church.

Archdeacon Hori Raiti said Mrs. Nicholls' generosity was but one evidence of the revival in religion which has occurred among the Maoris of tho Waikato since the appointment of Bishop Bennett. He expressed the hope that European members of the Church of England would assist the Maoris to raise the additional £2OO required to enable the Maori church at Paeroa to be built.
