THRIFT IN THE SCHOOLS.
PROPOSAL BY DEPARTMENT
Tho simplicity of the Auckland Saving P.nnk's scherno of .school hanks was pointed out at a meeting of the Auckland Education Hoard yesterday, when notification was received of a proposal to familiarise children in schools with the facilities offered by the Post Office Savings I'ank. 1 he chief postmaster wrote stating that lie had heen advised arrangements had heen made with the Education Department to reprint in the School Journal an article on " Thrift." U had heen suggested that officers of the Postal Department should visit schools and deliver addresses to senior pupils on the facilities provided by tho department for savins money.
Mr. G. P.rownleo said tho Auckland Savings. Rank was already operating a very simple and useful, scheme in several schools.
It was decided to ask for definite particulars of its proposal from tho Postal Dt partment.
