CIVIL SERVANTS' SALARIES
NEW SOUTH WALES MEASURE. SYDNEY. May 21. After a series of divisions in tho New South Wales Legislative Assembly, in which tho Government was saved on two occasions by the casting vote of tho Speaker, the Civil Service Salaries Cut Bill was read a second timo by 45 votes to 43.
Two Nationalist members, Messrs. E. L. Sanders and E. P. Tressider, voted with tho Opposition.
Tho Treasurer, Mr. B. S. Stevens, said tho diminution in taxable incorno in tho State for tho coining year would amount to 22 per cent., and the savings, including tho reduction in public servants' salaries, would aggregato £2,067,000.
