Official notification has been received in Tokio from Nanking that the Nationalist Government of China has issued instructions for the detention and search of vessels of every nationality proceeding to or leaving Tientsin and for the confiscation of arms and munitions which are considered to bo contraband. In the event of these orders being carried out Tokio officials say they foresee a complicated international situation. CHINA'S CIVIL WAR. NATIONALIST VICTORIES. REBELS' SEVERE LOSSES* SHANGHAI, May 13. The Nanking (Nationalist) Government claims three important victories. It says its forces have broken the rebels' lino in North Anhwei and aro advancing toward tho Honan province and that they have captured Pochow, a strategic point in the north of Anhwei. A report from tho Shantung battlefront says tho rebels attacked and wcro repulsed with severe losses. Battles which it is believed will be tho decisive ones in tho present civil war are being fought in tho vicinity of Hsuchow. Generals Feng Yu-hsiang and Yen Hsi-shan aro rushing all their available troops forward to prevent tho Government forces' advanco along tho Lunghai railway. In the event of the rebels capturing Hsuchow tho Government will face a serious situation. The President, Chiang Kai-shek, therefore, is personally directing tho operations. It is believed that ho is capable of resisting any attack by tho opposing armies.
