An inquest was held to-day concerning tho death of Miss Clare Ivauter and Mr. Douglas Barr, who were killed last evening when the fwo of a cliff fell and crashed tho motor car in which th/jy were riding. A verdict of accidental death was returned. The jury added a recommendation that the local body or bodies concerned should appoint some competent person to report from time to time on the condition of the cliff in view of tho heavy traffic using the road. Measurements made to-day show that 1150 cubic yards, or 1660 tons, of material, chiefly limestone rock, came down in the fall of tho cliff. Of tlio total quantity, rather more than one-third fell on to the road and footpath, completely blocking the thoroughfare. It piled up to a height of ten or twelve feet, and for a length of 30 feet. Gangs of men have been engaged all day clearing the debris, and arc continuing to-night, in order to makq a passage for one-way traffic as soon as possible.
