FAMILY'S NARROW ESCAPE.
[RY TELEGEAPII.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HUXTLY, Tuesday.
A five-roomed dwelling in ITakanoa Extended Street, Unfitly, occupied by Mr. S. Emerson and owned by Mr. 11. Littlewood, Huntly, was destroyed by fire at 2.30 this .morning. Mrs. Emerson is at present in hospital, and Mr. Emerson was at, home with bis two young children when the outbreak occurred. One of tho children awoke to find tie place in flames, and gave, the alarm to tho father. They had a narrow escape, and lost practically everything. The insurances are £225 on the rurntture, in the New Zealand Office, arid £475 on the building, in the Australian Alliance pilice.
