FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' WORK*

TAUHEI DRAINAGE AREA.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] MORRINSVILLE, Tuesday.

The first meeting of the newly-formed Morrinsville United Friendly Societies*' Council was held last evening. A set of rules was approved and it was decided to hold meetings on the third Monday of each month. Arrangements for holding a united friendly societies' ball were discussed.

The proposed splitting up of the Auckland provincial branch of tho Farmers! Union to create a new provincial district in the Waikato was discussed at tho monthly meeting of the Morrinsville branch. Mr. J. E. Leeson moved a resolution strongly opposing the proposal. The motion was carried.

At the monthly meeting of the Tauhei Drainage Board the supervisor, Mr. 11. C. Palmer, reported that the contract for the main Tauhei drain had been completed and that the contractor had completed work on Gemmell's, Dobson's, Greentree's and Yalintine's outlets. He said tho contractor had finished the road drain from Hickey's to Brightwell's and also Noble's Road drain. The contract for; work on the special area drain and Jack's outlets, and aljout 25 chains of Cassidy'3 outlet, had been completed.
