LITTLE CHANGE IN RATES [BY telegraph.—own correspondent.3 HAMILTON, Tuesday. Largo yardings of beef, and pigs and an average number of sheep came forward at the weekly stock sale at the Fraukton Yards this afternoon. Quotations for beef end pigs wero firm at lato rates. Tho auctioneers report as follows:--Lalgcty mid Company, Limited.—Thero was a larger yarding of oeef than usual, including a good many fat bullocks. Tho demand generally was lower than last week, l'rituo medium-weight bullocks sold from £ I J loa to £lO 14s; prune young cows and heifers sold up to £lO 7s; ordinary fat cows sold from £5 17s Gd to £7 ss; light fat cows and heifers realised from £1 5s to £5 12s. There was a good yarding of store cattle, which mot with a weak demand 1 at late rates. There was a fair yarding of fat sheep, but generally the quality was poor. Best prime wethers made up to 275; inferior wethers, 21s to 245, fat and for-ward-conditioned ewes, to 13s 7d; storo ewes, Gs 3d to 12s 9d; fat woolly lambs, 2(Js Gd; cull two-tooth wethers, lCs 8(1; store shorn lambs. 9s lud. Tho grain and produce market continues with little business passing: Wheat is now in shorter supply, and it is assumed that most of the "free" wheat has been disposed of. There is very littlo alteration in values, which to-day are 5s Sd to 5s 9d for Tuscan, 5s 9d to 5s lOd for Hunters, and 5s lid to Cs for Pearl, 011 trucks in each case. Fowl wheat is hard to obtain at 5s lid, f.0.b., s.u Thero is a good demand from the North Island. Oats in Canterbury aro extremely hard to obtain, and buyers who have to obtain immediate supplies here have to pay 3d and 4d over the quotations in the south. Oats cannot be bought for Lyttelton shipment under 4s Id, f.0.b., s.i.
