AFFILIATION SEVERED.

WHANGARE! HOSPITAL BOARD

REAFFIRMATION OF VIEW.

[BY TELEGRAPH.' — OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI. Tuesday.

A motion to rescind tho resolution passed at tho previous meeting, severing affiliation with tho Hospital Boards As sociation, was moved by Mr. J. A. S. Mackay at a meeting of tho Whnngarci Hospital Board last evening. Mr. Mackay said tho matter had been rather rushed at tho last meeting. He thought tho board had dorm something which it might regret very much. Tho reasons for the drastic decision had been that members thought tho association was not acting in tho best interests of the board, and that tho voting power of the large centres was such that tho smaller boards had littlo say. He said tlio executive was elected by tho association, and if it did not carry out what it should the executive, and not tho association, was to blame, and could be brought to task.

Mr. J. N. MacC'arroll seconded tho motion. Ho said ho considered tho action of tho board might bo justly regarded as, "small." Tho board received many benefits from tho association, especially in points affecting hospital law, and personal feelings should bo sunk. Secession *as a backward step, which would closo tho door to many advantages. Tho motion was dofcatcd, thoso in favour of it being Messrs. Mackay, MacCarroll and Elliott.
