OBITUARY.
MR. THOMAS FERENS. British Wireless. ItTJGBY, May 11. The death has occurred of Mr. Thomas Fercns, aged 03, whoso gifts to public
and charitable objects arc estimated to have exceeded £1,000.000 in value. His native town of Hull in particular benefited from his generosity, and ho founded University College there, with a gift of £25,000. Mr. Fercns began life as a clerk in the
well-known firm of Reckitt and Son, and wa3 chairman of tho company when ho died.
Mr. Thomas Robinson Fercns was Liberal member of tho House of Commons for East Hull from 1906 to 1918. lie had been president of tho Hull Chamber of Commerce and was much interested in artistic, philanthropise and temperance movements. He was inn do a member of tho Privy Council in 1912.
