FLOODS CAUSE DAMAGE.

RIVER ABNORMALLY HIGH.

BRISBANE, May 12

Extensive damage was caused in South Coast districts at the week-end by torrential rain which flooded watercourses, swept away several bridges, inur. :lated farms and caused landslides.

At Bald Knob, 13 inches of rain fell in 24 hours. Tho Great Northern Road is impassable, tho river having risen 7ft. above tho bridges at Mooloolah. Tho Obi Valley is flooded and a bridgo over tho Obi River has been swept away. The water there is at the highest point for 30 years. Telephone posts and fencing havo been washed away.

A cloudburst at Sandy Creek caused much damage to crops and business premises.
