A DRIVER FINED.
" OVER 55 MILES AN HOUR."
i' Ho opened up to over 55 miles an hour on the Penrose straight," said Mr. E. 11. Barrett, the Main Highways Board traffic inspector, in the Otahuhu Police Court yesterday, when Trevor 11. Brett was charged with dangerous driving on the Great. South Road.
Inspector Barrett said he was driving along (ho Great South Road toward the city when defendant passed him at over 40 miles an hour. Ho set out after him but could not catch him until they reached the Penrose Bridge, where there was a block in tho traffic. There was a number of people on tho road waiting for buses. The magistrate, Mr. F. H. Levion, imposed a ft no of £3 and costs.
