SCIENCE CONFERENCE.
GATHERING AT BRISBANE*
DOMINION REPRESENTATIVE.

WELLINGTON, Monday.
New Zealand will be represented by Dr< P. Marshall, of Wellington, at the conference of tho Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science, which is to open at Brisbane on May 28. In addition to attending the conference on behalf of the Dominion, Dr. Marshall will go there as tho accredited representative of the New Zealand Institute and the Wellington Philosophical Society. ? Dr. Marshall, who is Government petrologist, and is attached to the. Dei: partrnent of Scientific and Industrial Research, intends to leave Wellington by the limited express on Sunday night, in order to connect with tho Sydney boat at Auckland. The conference will last aboat a week. Dr. Marshall has been accorded tho honour of having been invited to deliver one of tho two popular lectures that will be given during conference week. His subject will bo . "Coral Reefs." On this subject ho is recognised as a world authority.
In view of the numerous expeditions that have carried out research recently on the coral formation of the Great Barrier Reef, on the north-eastern coast, of Australia, and tho reef's close proximity to the conference meeting place, Dt\ ar " shall's address on a subject on which I'° is so highly qualified to speak should be highly appreciated.
