ROTARY CLUB LUNCHEON.
GOVERNOR-GENERAL PRESENT
HALF-CROWN FINE IMPOSED
The Governor-General, Lord Bleclisloo, was' llio guest' of honour at the weekly lunejieoit of llio Auckland Rotary Club yesterday. His Excellency was welcomed by the president, Mr. S. Reid, who said New Zealand* had been fortunate in her Governors and owed much to those gentlemen who left their homeland and broke family and friendship ties to servo the Empire in a distant outpost. The Dominion was first and foremost an agricultural country, and the choice of Lord
Blcdisloe as Governor-General was another proof of the far-seeing wisdom of Britain's statesmen.
During tho ! ( uncheon, His Excellency, in accordance with custom, had to pay a Pino, of hall'-a-crown. Preceding Governors have had to pay this fine, and the coins have been mounted on the club mere. Lord Hledisloo's donation will add to I ho collection.
Among the visitors were Mr. J. M. Thompson, of Winnipeg; Mr. A. Kurasawu, of Japan; Mr. 11. Telford, of Wellington; Mr. R. W. Hansard, of Napier; and Mrs. T. E. Tonoyclil'f, of Gisborne. His Excellency addressed tho club on grass land cultivation (iiul management.
