HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.
The following weather forecast for 24 1 tours from 7_u.ni. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:—Fair to fine weather is indicated, but clouding over everywhere for a change in conditions to follow after about 24 hours. Easterly to north-easterly winds, light to moderate, gradually increasing, and attaining gale force shortly in the, southern districts. Seas smooth to ntodeiate, increasing on the east coast oi the North Island. Local outlook: Fair to line, then becoming cloudy to overcast, with showers falling, and rain developing. Milder temperatures. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 30.50 in. Midnight, Sunday .. .. 30.55 jn.
GOVERNMENT REPORT,
The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—Tho anti-cvclonc over New Zealand is gradually giving way and moving eastward. A rather vigorous depression is moving on to tho south-west Tasman Sea. Indications are for northerly winds, freshening to gale force at times in Cook and Foveaux Straits. Seas rough about. Cook and Foveaux Straits, and rising generally south of Cape Kgrnont. Freshening northerly winds and moderate to rather rough seas in tlie eastern Tasman Sea. The weather will he c'loudy in western districts, with scattered showers developing from Taranaki southwards, elsewhere fair to fine. Temperatures mild, especially in eastern districts. Unsettled weather with fairly general rain is probable about the middle of the week.
