Russell. of Invercargill, on account of illhealth. The action of tho Metropolitan Club was endorsed in regard to inquiries into the driving of Tom Thumb by F. G; Holmes, the placing: of Nighborn second in the Summer Handicap, tho driver, M. Holmes, not having pulled him back to his gait, and the alleged inconsistent running of Harold Thorpo. Iti each case tho club took no action. The Ashburton Club roported that after hearing tho explanation of tho owner. W. It. Black, in reference to the charge of inconsistent running concerning the appearance in two races of Scuttle, it had decided to tako no action. The association decided to hold tho matter aver for a full meeting. .... Tho action of tho Wanganui Club in dismissing tho protest of G. 11. Stubbs against 11. J. WOodtield, of inconsistent running on the part of Baron Derby, and in fining Woodfield £5 for altering gear without giving notico, wag considered. The association decided to refer the report back to tho club to ascortain under what .rulo the fine was imposed. Tho club's action in dismissing tho protest was endorsed. The decision of the Wanganui Club to take no action at tho inquiry into tho running of Ockley Wood, driven by L. F. Boikett, was endorsed, A report was received from tho Hnwern Club that C. King had been charged with handling Royal Silk in an unsatisfactory manner. In the committee's opinion King drovo a badty-judgod raco and ho waw cautioned. The Gore Trotting Club reported upon a complaint by J, G. Cruickshnnk that an unauthorised -person had assisted at. the start of the Mataura Handicap with Ihn. horse Keen Derby, and that that horse hnd interfered with his maro, Merce Bingen. rho club stated that, the assistant had : been a stable-hand.
