LATEST OFFICIAL RETURNS. THREE YEARS COMPARED. Returns of applications for employment registered at Government labour bureaux up to April 7 are published in the latest issue of the Abstract of Statistics, [following are details of the registrations at the dates named, together with the numbers at corresponding dates in 1929 and 1928: loan, man was. IW2B 27'J(> 2531 The registrations at Auckland during the period increased fr0m.057 to 1140, j whereas last year tlie number rose from 954 to 1027 in the first three weeks, and I declined to 920 on April 8. Returns from the other centres also show an increase each week to the maximum at April 7, the latest total at Wellington having heen 523, at Ohristchurch 736 and at Dunedin 230. Last year the final return for March and the first for .April showed improvements, the number corresponding with the latest returns having been 440 at Wellington. 304 at Christehurch and 183 at Dunedin. Registrations at 'other centres, outside the four cities, numbered I 699 on April 7 this year, as against 859
