DRIVER TO BE TRIED.

SEQUEL TO ACCIDENT. WOMEN INJURED BY CAR. ALLEGATION OF NEGLIGENCE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] lIUNTLY. Friday. As a sequel to an occurronce near tho Kimihia Cemetery on January 24, Reginald Cecil Waite Taylor, an insurance agent, of Auckland, was charged in tho Huntly Police Court, to-day w.ith negligent and reckless driving and with .doing bodily injury to Mrs. Margaret Francis Annstrong and her daughters, Greta arid Jean. Mrs. Armstrong and her daughters were walking along the road near the Kimihia Cemetery on the evening of January 24, and were run down by a ear driven by Taylor. Mrs. Armstrong suffered a fracture of a lrg and bur daughter Groin a fracture of the skull and thigh, while Jean, aged 11, was badly affected by shock. Sergeant Cowan prosecuted and Mr. C. B. Gallagher (Auckland) appeared for defendant. Evidence was given by Frederick Harris and his son, and by Edward George Bridgers, Percy R. Bridget's and F. A. Briilgers, who followed closely behind defendant's car from Ohitiewai to tho place where the accident occurred. Arthur Thomas Ralph, a resident close bv, and Dr. Hugh Stewart Douglas, who attended the injured at the Huntly Hospital prior to their removal to the Waikato Hospital, also gave evidence. The case occupied the greater portion of tho day, and defendant was committed to the Supreme Court for trial on June 9. Bail was allowed on his own surety of £l5O and another of £l5O.
