THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. UPWARD TREND OF PRICES. A firmer tone developed on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, price movements being generally upward. Reviving confidence was indicated by increased offers for a considerable number of stocks, apart from those in which dealings took place. No business was dono in Govern ment investments, but several now sellers appeared. Offers were raised 5s for War Bonds, 1930, 4J, por cent., and 2s fid for tho 1938 and 1939 maturities of those bonds. Little business was done in banks, but a general marking up of prices occurred A late sale on Thursday of Commercials of Australia at tho unchanged price of 19s 9d was reported, and buyers increased their offers to 20s. This bank's new issue, fully paid, was dealt in yesterday at 19s 9d. Both buying and soiling quotations moved upwards for Nationals of Australasia and New South Wales, while buyers were willing to give more for New /ealands and Unions. The insurance group was quiet. In loan and agency a sale was made of Loan and Morcantiles at £95, compared with £IOO when the Inst deal was made at tho end of February. A buyer appeared for Goldsbrough-Morts at 30s, with sellers quoting 3d dearer at 31s. In gas Aucklands had sale at the unchanged price of 23s lOd, with the demand unsatisfied. In shipping both issues of Northern Steams were dealt in, the fullypaid selling unchanged at 14s 6d, and the contributing issue, which had last been dealt in in October at 6s lid, bringing 6s 6d. Now Zealand Breweries shares appreciated 3d with sale at 51s 6d. Tho miscellaneous group produced five sales. Colonial Sugars were 5s better at £4O 10s, more being available at that price. Llectrolytic Zincs fell 8d to 23s 4d, and Kemp-thorne-Prossor's New Zealand Drugs, Is 3d to 63s 9d. Improved prices were obtained for Farmers' Tradings, which rose 4d to 8s 6d, and Robinson's Ice Creams which were Is 3d better at 25s 6d. Offers for Wijsons Cements were advanced 9d to 40s 3d, with the market bare of sellers. In mining a. sale Into on Thursday of Mount Lyells at the unchanged price of 26s was reported. Waihis were quoted ox div. at 13s Id and 13s 6d, compared with 14s 4d and. 14s 5d cum div. on the previous day.

DENTAL AND MEDICAL SUPPLY. DIVIDEND OF 4 PER CENT. A dividend of 4 per cent, for the year is recommended by the Dental and J.jedicnl Supply Company, Limited, which in 1929 passed its dividend. An increased turnover and a reduction of approximately £2OOO in working expenses resulted' in a gross profit of £22,587, compared with £21,892 in 1929, and a net profit of £2543. The company reported a net profit of £2511 in 1928 and paid ;i dividend of 5 per cent. There was a net loss of £164 in 1929, reducing the balance in the profit and loss account to £123.
