DEEP-SEA FISHING.

BOAT FOR MR. ZANE GREY.

USE OFF AMERICAN COAST.

CONSTRUCTION IN AUCKLAND.

A deep-sea fishing boat, which will be used by Mr. Zane Grey in his fishing off the coast of (he United States, is to bo built in Auckland by Messrs. Collings and Bell, of St. Mary s Bay. Hie boat will be larger than the usual deepsea fishing launch and it will possess special features which have been incorported by Mr. Grey as the result of his wide fishing experience.

Mr. Grey, who is at present in Tahiti, has been in communication with Messrs. Collings and Bell regarding tho construction of tho boat. In a letter authorising tho commencement of work he pays a tribute to tho workmanship of Auckland's boatbuilders. Tho new boat is to be named the Frangipani, after a flower which grows in Tahiti. It will bo 46ft. in length and will have a beam of 12ft. 9in. It will bo fitted with Redwing twin engines. It will bo planked for the full length with kauri and special strength will bo given to the construction for offshore fishing. Threo fishing chairs are later to bo installed and these will have revolving scats with removable backs. The Frangipani is to be ready for trial on November 1 and it is to be delivered (o Mr. Grey on his arrival in New Zealand on December 1. It will be shipped to Tahiti and from there to the United States.
