OPENING CEREMONY HELD.

BUILDING AT MOUNT ROSKILL

"This clinic signifies a social service which is doing very great work in making better lives and greater happiness in the Dominion," said the Minister of Health, the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, at the opening of tliQ new dental clinic at the Mount Roskill School yesterday afternoon. The opening ceremony was carried out by the Minister, while the chairman of the school committee, Mrs. N. S. Benfell, presided. The member 01 Parliament for the district, Mr. G. C. Munns, and the member for the district prior to the alteration of tho electoral boundaries, Mr. W. J. Jordan, were also present.

The Minister congratulated Mrs. Benfell and the headmaster, Mr. F. A. Garry, on tho development of tho school grounds, covering seven acres, which gave promise of an excellent school environment. "I am very glad to know that you have a headmaster of Mr. Garry's high standing," he said. "You should bo very proud of him."

The allocation of new school dental clinics throughout the Dominion this year had received careful attention in tho direction of linking up as many country schools as possible, said Mr. Stallworthy, who added that tho schools in Auckland and other cities had now been more carefully grouped. The dental nurses wero doing a great service to tho children of New Zealand in laying the foundation of a healthier generation. The work at the Mount Roskill clinic, which would bo at first under the care of one nurse, represented a saving to parents of £IOO in the first year on a conservative estimate reckoned on professional fees. "We congratulate the school committee on its efforts to obtain this clinic," said Mr. Jordan, who said that the school doserved it. The school was one of a very high standard, while the district was growing very fast. Mr. Munns also paid a tribute to the work of tho' committee, after which the headmaster called for three cheers for the visitors, and tho building was declared open.
