DARING PARACHUTISTS.

DEATH-DEFYING LEAPS. IRON-NERVED PERFORMERS. LONDON, May 5. Sensational feats in the air are described by tho Evening News, which says they are performed by aerial acrobats, who are known as " death divers." They are parachutists of exceptional skill and iron nerve who, after leaping from an aeroplane, fall thousands of feet before pulling the parachute cord. It is believed that a drop of more than 5000 ft. is possible, and that iron-nerved experts shortly will achieve the distinction of falling a mile. Even when they are rushing pell mell toward earth and, perhaps, turning slow somersaults, these skilled parachutists retain full command of their faculties. Some, in order to estimate exactly when to releaso tho cord, wear wrist-watches and in tho process of falling keep their eyes on tho second hand. In that way thoy judge when to check their fall.
