NOTICE TO PROHIBITION VOTERS. Tho New Zealand Alliance, on behalf of tho 5.112 electors of Parnell who voted for Prohibition at the Inst poll, submitted the following questions to tho three Parliamentary candidates. In publishing the replies, the Alliance de- , sires to 3tate that it docs not support any i particular party or candidato. Questions are submitted for tho purpose of ascertain- ' ins the attitude of candidates to legislative proposals. Tho replies aro published for the information of Prohibition voters. Each elector is, of conrso, free to support nny candidate, but nil prohibitionists are urged to take into consideration tho attitude of candidates on the liquor questions. QUESTIONS SUBMITTED TO CANDIDATES IN PARNELL BY-ELECTION. 1. Will you support the deletion of Stale Purchaso and Control from tho Ballotpaper, and the submission of National Continuance and National Prohibition only, on the democratic basis of a simple majority? 2. Will you oppose any provision for any extension of time—(a) Between the licensing polls; (b) Between tho carrying of National Prohibition and its coming into operation? 3. Will you oppose any increase of facilities for the sale and consumption of alcohol, including—(a) Any provision for redistribution or increase of liconses; (b) Any provision for removal of licenses beyond tho limits permitted by existing law; (c) The maintaining of tho pact made with tho Maoris in the King Country ? Tho following replies have been received:— Mr. T. Bloodworlh answered all tho questions of tho Allianco in the affirmative. Ho is in favour of n two-issue ballot-paper, with a simple majority vote, and of tho maintenance of the pact made with tho Maoris of the King Country. Ho will oppose any oxtension of time between the polls, or between tho carrying of National Prohibition and its coming into operation. He will also opposo any provision for redistribution or increase of licenses, or the removal of licenses beyond the limits now permitted by law. In addition, Mr. Bloodworth states that he is in favour of preferential voting being used so long as there aro three issues on the ballot-paper. Mr. W. P. Endean did not answer the questions, but elates: — " I am not 111 favour of Prohibition. At the fiame time I would give absolutely fair play to any measure introduced. I favour the two-issue ballot-paper—Continuance or Prohibition, eliminating Stato Control. Apart from this, I reservo tho right to volo according' to my conscience, in tho best interests of the people, on any licensing measure introduced in the House." Mr. A. Donald stated that he would not reply to any questionnaire, but had stated his position from the publlo platform. Wo aro informed that in answer to questions Mr. Donald stated that ho was in favour of u two-issue ballot-paper, with a simplo majority vote, but with an extonsion of time betweon tho polls to six years.
