VALUE OF NEW SERVICE.
ASSISTANCE TO STATESMEN. LONDON, May 1. The wireless telephone conversations between London and Australia are given prominence in the newspapers. The Times says it is now possible to converse overseas by telephone, to ask a question, make a suggestion and get an immediate reply. It will give statesmen a fuller opportunity of establishing and maintaining intimate and personal contact, which constitutional developments of the past decade havo made necessary if the Empire is to endure. The development of methods of rapid, easy consultation is a political necessity these days, when all questions of Imperial policy havo to bo settled by consultation between different Governmenl s.

EXTENSION SOON EXPECTED. (Received Mny 3, 12.25 n.m.) MELBOURNE. Mny 2. The Postmaster-General's department predicts an early extension of the wireless telephone service to New Zealand. Much progress has already been made in negotiations between the Australian and New Zealand authorities.
