There was a good attendance of dele* gates at the half-yearly meeting of thqi North Island Motor Union to-day. Mr« W. O'Caillaghuu (South Taranaki) pre-i sided.
"The principle is a very wrong one,*2 said Mr. 11. W. Sliortt in submitting tha following remit:—"That tho North Island, (N.Z.) Motor Union protest to the Minister of Transport against local bodies remunerating traffic inspectors employed by them- on -a commission basis from fines secured by ..such traffic inspectors from motorists for offences linger the' motor regulations or local bv-laws." The remit was carried.
"A remit, "That a recommendation be made to the proper authorities that it be made compulsory for local authorities to put down white lines indicating where cars can be parked parallel or otherwise to the footpath," was carried. It was resolved that all speed limits be' abolished and that "driving to the common danger" be substituted.
