British Wireless. RUGBY, April 10. Tho Duchess of Bedford and Captain C. J). Barnard left Croydon acrodromo yesterday in the Fokkcr-Jupiter monoplane The Spider for Lympne. From there they started at 5.30 a.m. today on an attempt to fly to Capetown and back, a distance of 18,500 miles, in 18 days.

Mr. R. Little accompanied tho party as auxiliary pilot. In August, 1929, tho duchess' and Captain Barnard made a record flight to India and hack in seven and a-half days. On that flight tho duchess, who is 61 years of age, took her turn at the controls of the machine while Captain Barnard slept. She will relieve the pilots in tho same way on this flight.
