ENGLISH PREACHERS.
DR. RANSTON'S OPINION. The opinion that the most powerful preacher in England to day was the Rcy. Dr. W. E. Orchard was expressed last evening by Dr. H. Ranston, professor of the Trinity Methodist College, in an address to the Wesley Guild on his impressions of a tour of Great Britain.
Dr. Ranston said he had heard Dr. Cosmo Lang, Archbishop of Canterbury, and Dr. Temple, Archbishop of York. He also listened to Dr. Dinsdnle Young, who was drawing large congregations and was proclaiming an appealing and arresting message. At the time of his visit tin event of outstanding importance was the union of the Presbyterian Churches of Scotland. Another impressive scene had been that in front of the Cenotaph on Armistice Day, when thousands of poppies were strewn on the green lawns surrounding the monument.
Dr. Ranston said he considered the three most important cities in England, from the. point of view of historical interest, wero London, Norwich and Edinburgh.
