NOMINATION OF SWIMMER. [ry teleobapii.— tress association.) WANT}ANUI. Thursday. The nomination of Len. Smith, New Zealand breaststroke 'hntripicn swimmer, as a competitor at the Umpire Games, has been forwarded by the Wanganui Swimming Centre. Smith holds the New Zealand record for the 220 yds. breaststroke of 3m 2s, and it is claimed 'that, if pressed, he could do even better. It is considered that sufficient financial support would bo forthcoming in Wanganui if the New Zealand Council makes its usual grant.
