PRICES FOR WHEAT AND OATS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] DUNEDIF, Friday. The present fine weather is enabling threshing to be continued in all districts. It is fortunate that the bulk of wheat coming in is on a forward delivery basis, otherwise the pressure of offerings would cause a weakening of the market. Yields vary and in some instances, especially with earlier sown wheat, returns are up to those of last season. With spring-sown wheat, however, returns have not been altogether satisfactory. Viewing the position all round, indications point to a lower yield this season. Nevertheless, there should be sufficient wheat to meet millers' requirements.

Prices remain unaltered at 5s 9d for Tuscan, sacks extra, country sidings; 5s lid for Hunters and 6s 3d for Velvet. The latter variety appears to, be going out of favour and sales are hard to eSect. The importation of outside manufactured flour for mixing and other methods of manufacture have resulted in a considerably lessened demand for Velvet. The fowl wheat market remains short of supplies.* Merchants have boen endeavouring to work on a hand-to-mouth basis, awaiting the arrival of the new season's supplies, the value in Dunedin, ex truck, sacks extra, being 6s per bushel. The oat market is still weakening. This is not on account of heavy supplies, but following on offerings from outside countries. New Zealand-grown A grade Gartons are quoted at 3s 2d, sacks extra, ex trucks," country sidings, and B grade at 2s lid. The shipping price has eased to 3s lOd f.0.b., s.i., for A grade and 3s 8d for B grade. The demand for Dun oats has also eased off. The chaff market remains weak and merchants are finding it difficult to get buyers for consignments. Sales have been made at £5 10s to £6 per ton, sacks extra, ex truck. Merchants are not buying potatoes to any extent. The main crops are not yet fully ripened, but the market is well supplied, and current quotation is £6 per ton, sacks included, ex truck. STOCK SALES. VALUES AT FEILDING. [by telegraph.—press association.] FEILDING, Friday. About 14,000 sheep and a heavy yarding of store and fat cattle were penned for the stock sale to-day.
