RAILWAYMEN'S DISPUTE.

ACTION BY FOUR MEN. EXPLANATION OF POSITION. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Friday. Further light on tho cleavage in the higher councils of the Engineers, Fireinens and Cleaners' Association is shed by statements by the four members of the executive who are concerned in the dispute. It, is stated on behalf of the four men that they, along with Mr. Veitch, constitute the total voting strength of tho executive council and include the trustees and treasurer of the association. Ihe trustees and treasurer recently became aware of tho fact that no money had been paid into the association's account at the Bank of Now Zealand since last August, and in order to safeguard the interests of the members, they decided to make ail investigation. Tn this effort tlioy were frustrated by Mr. Veitch, who had set himself up as acting-secretory without the consent or knowledge of the Executive CouncilThe authority of these four members as officers of tho Executive Council is claimed to have been completely settled by a favourable judgment of the Chief Justice on November 26, 1929. At no stage was physical force used or contemplated nor was there any justification for such a greatly exaggerated report. When this explanation was referred to him, Mr. Veitch stated that the reason no motley had been banked since last August was that one of the trustees had refused to sign any cheques.
