BATTLE WITH CONFETTI.
"RECKLESS" CITY FATHERS!
A great -, victory was' announced at Bournemouth England, recently. The town has beaten the Stigginses and even gone to the length of allowing people to throw confetti at each other.
The Boscombe Ratepayers' Association recently took courage in their hands and boldly asked to be allowed to hold occasional confetti'battles in the summer on Boscombe Pier. The Bournemouth city fathers were disgusted at the very idea. Eventually the Town Council, however, gave permission for. them to hold such a battle—but for one "experimental occasion only." But the Town Council were still very nervous about the consequences of their decision, and made the stipulation that the event must be held under the auspices of the Ratepayers' Association, and that the sale of the confetti must be solely in their hands. When the Boscombe carnivals were in augurated some years ago they definitely forbade confetti to be used. They argued that enthusiastic but. impecunious young people scooped' it up from the road and used it second-hand—with whatever else they had scooped -up- from the Toad.
