PLAY IN A CHURCH.
VICAR'S APPEAL TO' MEN
A mystery play—"Man and Everyman" —written by the Rev. F. E. Spurway, vicar of the parish v:as staged recently in St. John's Church, Taunton Somerset. This' is the first time for more than 400 years that a play has been given in a Somerset Church. All the players were members of the congregation. They had rehearsed their parts under the vicar's direction. The play was sta'ged in the nave of the church in front of the chancel which was screened off by a black curtain forming a black cloth to the stage. Mr. Spurway based his play on the Bible and on the Prayer . Book. The performance was for adults only.
