WATER POLO MATCHES.
COMPETITION ADVANCED. The Auckland Water Polo Control Board's competition was advanced a further stage at the Terid Baths last evening, three matches being decided. Following are the results:— Grammar v. Philomel.—Grammar was the first to attack, but almost immediately play was transferred to the- other end. Williams opening the scoring for Philomel. Shortly afterwards Bridson equalised. In the second half Grammar did most of the attacking. Bridson sent in a lons shot, which Kronfeld knocked into the net. giving Grammar the lend. Even phiy followed, and just before the game ended Hyauiaßon scored another goal for Grammar. The game ended: Grammar, 3: Philomel, 1. North Shore v. Wnitemctn, B.—After n few minutes' play North Shore cornered ;ho ball'to its opponents' goal, McKoy netting from short rang-?. Until the end of the spell Waitemata had the better of the gatae. (Jpt.n resuming Waitemata pressed and J. Mulvihill equalised. Up and down play then followed, each team missing some goad opportunities. Just before the call of time Yaile cxve North Shore ihe advantage. The final scores were: North Shore, 2; Waitemata B, 1* Waitemata A v. University.—W internal.a wits easily the better team, the final score not being a fair indication of the run of piny. Enwrighi (2) and Leash (!) were the scorers for Waitemata. Mr. L. Brighton wat referee for all same*.
