OBITUARY.
MBS. D. G. COLE,
The death occurred suddenly last evening of Mrs. D. G. Cole, of Trafalgar Street, Onelninga, aged 65. Mrs. Colo was well known for her work for the Presbyterian Church and tho Young Women's Christian Association. She is survived hy her husband, Mr. D. G. Cole, her daughter, Miss Mary W. Cole, and two sons, Dr. J. McMurrny Cole, of Waihi, and Mr. A. C. W. Cole, of Onelninga.
MRS. C. J. HARPER. The death occurred at Dovonport o f Mrs. C. J. Harper, aged 81. She was born in County Tyrone, Ireland, and came to New Zealand at tho ago of 14 in tho sailing ship Queen of the Deep, tho voyage lasting 14 weeks. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Given, took up their land grants in the Pollok Settlement, near Wainku, where they and their family of seven lived during tho latte'part of tho Maori War. Mrs. Harper could recall sovoral occasions on which they were expecting an attack by lios tile Maoris, and a watch was always kopt at night. However, they were never troubled. At tho ago of 24 she married Mr. James Harper, also of County Tyrone, in St. Andrew's Church, Auckland, and went to live in Hamilton. After residing there for a number of years they returned to Auckland. Mrs. Harper is survived by a family of seven, her husband having predeceased hor in 1899.
