BUTTER MARKET QUIET. NEW ZEALAND !44s TO !46a. LOUDON", Feb. 20. The batter market is quiet with quotations weak- Danish is quoted at 168s; choicest salted New Zealand, 144s to 1465; Australian, 140s t-o 1425, Unsalted New' Zealand is scarce at 1625; Australian, 1445. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report i having received the following cablegram i from "their London honse dated February ! 20. Messrs. Samuel Page and Son report :—Dairy produce: Holders are pressing sales but buyers are not responding. Butter: New Zealand finest salted, 144s to 1465; Danish, 172s to 1745; Australian, finest unsalted, 144s to 148s; finest salted, 140s to 1425; good average quality, 136s to 138s. Cheese: New Zealand, white, S6s to 375; coloured, 85s to 86s; Canadian, white, 92s to 965; coloured, 92s to 965. Joseph Nathan, Limited, has received the following cablegram from its London house: —Butter: 145s to 1465; cheese, white, 86s; coloured, 345. Both markets are weak. Amalgamated Dairies, Limited, has received the following cablegram from its London house, dated February 20:— Butter prices unchanged, finest, 148s; other finest, 1465. Market rather steadier. Danish, firm at 166s f-o.b. Cheese: White,. 86a to 87s; coloured, 84s to 85s. Market slow. .

MARKET REPORTS. FRUIT AND PRODUCE PRICES. Peaches were again cheap afc the Auckland City Markets yesterday, although, tie prices for choice coloured lines improved a little. Tomatoes were also cheaper, the best outdoor grade selling at 3s to 4s a case. Several lines of apples were offered, but were dull of sale, prices being unchanged. Bon Chretien pears sold well,, realising 6s 6d to "8s a case. In the field produce section, the market was heavily supplied with potatoes, onions, cabbage, and pumpkins, while all green vegetables were in good supply. There was a fair demand for most lines. Potatoes sold at the slightly lower price of 2s to-4s a bag, while cucumbers were also cheap. Very heavy supplies of poultry met with a keen demand. Prices showed slight fail in comparison with those ruling last week, prime cockerels selling at 5s 6d to 7s each. There was an increase of 2d a dozen in the prices of all grades of eggs, a : special grade of hen eggs selling at 2s a dozen, while all other grades sold at correspondingly higher prices. CANTERBURY MARKETS. OAT PRICES VERY FIRM. [BT XEnKTHAPH. —FRESS ASSOCIATION. 3 CHRIST CETTBCH, Friday. Wheat continues to come steadily on to the market. There is a great difference between the yields, the lowest so far reported being 17 bnshels and the highest 60 bushels to the acre. The average, however, seems to be a little over 30 bushels. The market is a little weaker t.Vinn it was. Tuscan is selling at 5s 8d to 5s 9d. Hunters at 5s lid to 6s, and Pearl at 6s 2d to 6s 3d. There is very little inquirv for the latter, and it is difficult to sell. Fowl wheat for prompt deliver? is quoted at 5s 10d, f.o.b. s.i., ApriJ-June, at 5s 9d, April-September at 5s 10d. and April-December at 6s Id, Lo.b. s.i. The market for oats is very firm, and a good deal of business has been done th;s week. Dans are quoted at 4s 6d to 4s 3d on trucks. A grade Cartons are commanding 3s 9d ov trucks, sos ixl, and Algerians 3s 6d for ordinary and up to 4s for the besti. The North Island has bought some Tasmanian Algerians and also some Tasmania:) Dams. Good 'chaff is very scarce, and is hard to get at £5 for new. on trucks. Jit this time last year £3 10s to £3 12s 6d on tracks was being paid. Old chaff is quoted at £6 on trucks. Inhere is a disposition on tiie part of a good many growers to chaff their ojits instead of threshing them. The potato market shows a weakening tendency, and to-day's quotations are £4 10s to £4 12s 6d for AprO-May-Jiine delivery, £4 17s 6d for Jnlv, and £5 12s 6d for August-September. There is an absence of definite inquiry. Dakoltas arß j about 2s 6d a ton dearer than Whites, Wellington being practically the only market for these. There is a lack of animation on ; the onion market, which is described as "sick." To-day's quotation is £3 10s on tracks. There are some very good crops ot barley and some' very poor ones. valine of Cape variety to-day is 3s to 3s 3d, on tracks, while malting barley is quoted at 4s to 4s 3d. There is vary little change in. the market for small seeds. Offerings has® eased off since the threshing of these seetls. Akaroa cocksfoot is quoted at Bcl to 9d and Plains at 7d to Bd, on tracks. A few samples of white clover are offering, prices ranging from 8d to lOd per lb., on track#.. "
