ANNUAL MEETING HELD

ELECTION OF OFFICERS

The annual meeting of the. Auckland Horticultural Society was held on Thursday, the chairman, Mr. F. Walker, presiding.

The annual report stated that shows held during the year had been fairly well attended by the public. Additional interest had been taken in the spring show on account of jts being held in conjunction with the, third annual North Island show of the National Daffodil Society of New Zealand. interest had centred in the summer show, as in addition to sweet peas and carnations, there, had been a very tine display of gladioli. The report stated that the interest earned by the Brett legacy of £2OO had been transferred to a special fund to he known as the Brett Memorial Fund, which now stood at £ls 16s Bd. A considerable number of members having failed to renew their subscriptions for two, three or four years, the committee had been compelled to delete their names from the membership roll. In the balance-sheet presented no account had been taken of outstanding subscriptions, -although during the year repeated efforts had been made to collect them. The society had commenced the year with a credit balance in the general account of £4l 19s lid, and had cleared the year with a credit of £23 IBs 9d.

The number of members on the roll for the last year was 343. The following officers were elected: — President, Sir Edwin Mit-chelson : vicepresidents, Messrs. N*. K. Brett, W. W. Bruce. H. B. J. Bull. A. Duthie, IT. T. Goldie, D. A. Hay, <V. Houghton and E. Yates; honorary treasurer, Mr. D. .A. Hay; honorary auditor, Mr. (I. L. Gladding; honorary solicitor, Mr. F. IT. Williamson; honorary scrutineer, Mr. H. Turner.
