AKARANA RIFLE CLUB.

The Ajsaranfl. Dofenco Eifle Club continued its tropliy. series at Penrose on. Saturday under unfavourable conditions. A rear , fishtail wind was the ot low scoring. Trophies' were presented , by Mr. A. M. Eichardson and Mr. J. E. Draffin, and were competed for over Ml 9 ranges of 600 and. 600 yds. Silver spoons were won by Mr. 'A. G. Devore and Mr. E. Starkey. Tho Metropolitan Gun Club held the Auckland provincial clay-bird championship and a series of open sweepstakes on Saturday. Weather conditions were bad, especi ally during the earlier matches. The championship was Won by C. Seddon. of Hamilton, with 20 out, of _ 21, a very creditable performance considering tho conditions. Competitors were present from nil districts between Kaikohe and Taumarunui. Tho results were as follows:—No. 1 sweep of sevon bird 9: E. N. Barratt (18yds), C. Seddon (18yds), M. Pratt (18yds). G. H. Brown (18yds), all shot the possible and divided tho stake. No. 2 Sweep of seven birds. —G-. Brelher ton, Taumnrunui (12yds), and M. Pratt.
