MR. W. H. TAFT RESIGNS.
CHIEF JUSTICE CIF AMERICA. SUCCESSOR APPOINTED. WASHINGTON. Feb. 3. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, Mr. W. H. Taft, resigned to-day owing to ill-health. The President, Mr. Hoover, has appointed Mr. Charles Evans Hughes to bo Chief Justice in his place.
